Art

"(Art)... rescues us from our self chosen triviality, to which we are so prone. It is like a deep organ note that makes my hair stir and a shiver run through me. I 'pull back' from life, like a camera taking a long shot with a wide angle lens. I quite simply become aware of more reality than before." -Colin Wilson (The Occult)

Even More Photoshop...

Ok, so I took another look at the Constitution Hill thing and came up with this pic actually using a photo. I think I like this one more, but I will submit both (hopefully that is ok):

P.S: blogger is being a real bitch, I have had so many failed posts, it doesnt want to upload pictures and when I finally did get it working the damned power cut out!

More Photoshop

So this is my cover for a CD for the Constitutional Court. Its kinda-very boring but everything with real photos always turns out ugly. I may do another 1 later if I feel like it, but for now this is it:

From the Wonderfull World of Mandy

Ok so my wonderfull friend Mandy has opened my eyes to some interesting things via her blog http://misscapulet.blogspot.com/

Firstly is deviantART:
http://deviantart.com/
Its really great to browse and this

Next is Cyanide and Happiness - a comic strip at

Its not everyday that something online makes you laugh out loud. This is so great! I think Kashan would really appreciate it (thats a warning). Heres a taste:

CD Inspiration:

I love graphics like these. They are very popular these days, u see hem everywhere and i love them. This is where i got a bit of inspiration from 4 my CD cover. I didn't quite live up to my muse! But hey, I did it quite quickly this evening, so its good enough.

CD Cover

Ok so this is my CD cover for my work in the Photoshop elective: Dont know what I think of it? At first i was going to do something a bit more photo-oriented, like having many photos which contained the shapes we needed to use (like a spiral staircase as the spiral or a triangular truss for the triangles). But that turned out to be very involved and i didn't really like how it was turning out. So then i remembered the graphics on a CD cover from SL magazine and the type of graphics they use in their mag and the more stylized design came about.
Now its really cheesy and a bit trashy: but I have always favoured a little kitch in my life. So there it is, the longest explanation ever for a CD cover!!!
(I just stumbled across the star shape tool in photoshop, like most of its tools, and decided it was to appropriate to not use it, and thats where the extra tack come in to my design).

Chinese United Mansions - Some Images

Chinese United Mansions - Sheet Elevations

I can use sheets and shadows, see...

Chinese United Mansions

The finished product - after multiple unsuccsefull attemps.... Some floor plans

Chinese United Mansions

This was the start I made on the Mansions - not very successful! Luckly I have some very good friends who offered me some help...

Revit - Semi 3-D

Just some 3-D images of the house - I dont know how to create materials and effects so its not a very realistic or good looking model

Revit - Semi 2

These are 2 elevations that better show the change in level

Revit - The Semi

For one of my revit projects I chose to do my semi-detached house in Brixton. I cant really use Revit so this is my best attempt. I am not to sure how to show ground in Revit and my site is quite important to understanding the building. Basically I chose to cut away the site so therefore you enter on level 2 but you access the garden from level 1 (I tried to use trees to show this).

Black and White Series

Some black and white wire frame images - I find these can show detail very well.

Neutral Series

As I see my portrait as a lanscape these images are to show the elevations

Colour Series

Hopefully this 1 will actually contain images

Picasso Final - Colour Series

The Final Product:
In the end I found that my 3-D image look very much like a city scene. So I kept everything very rectalinear so that it appeared as a sort of skyscraper city. In this city there is a main road (my hair), a raised public area like a park, and lots of buildings (small and large). This really took quite alot of time (defining all the areas and such) but I am quite happy with the end product. I would have prefered to have posted an animated fly-through the city but I just couldn't make it work. My photoshop isn't working either - so I couldn't comeup with 1 final composition. But that suits me just fine because I am incapable of making decisions and therefore will post about a million images of the final work.

Here are the colour images I chose to use.

Self-Portrait (Again)

Ok - so before i post the final work I thought I would explain my self-portrait in relation to Picasso and my motivations. Firsly, the background was mosaiced in order to represent Cubism, and this incidently shows light and dark very well. Secondly, since Picasso like to look at objects/scenes from multiple perspectives to compose the final image I chose to break my face into different segments/features. I then explored light and dark with different techniques in the segments. A few very bold colours (although not all primary) complete the 'Picasso' look.

A Break from the Usuall Boring Stuff

A photo from Congress '06 - The Des Baker Evening
It was loads of fun as you can see!
(such a crazy evening even if I slept through some of it)

I am moaning again - instead of working

Ok so I officially HATE so many things in life.......... I hate discourse with a passion - it is such a pain in the ass. Instead of doing something usefull tomorrow (like trying to pass computers and master Revit in a matter of hours) I will be building a very very very irritating and complicated model for discourse. At least I have a good discourse group - so the pain wont be so bad coz it will be shared). Secondly, I hate Google videos combined with Sketch-Up for making me feel very stupid today because i cannot figure out how to get a video onto my blog for my life. So thats my moan, and sufficient waste of time for now. Back to Work [I thought this week was going to be relaxed and lovely :( ]
Oh - I have never been able to spell so dont expect anything on this blog to be spelt correctly!

Revit tut (final)

Revit Tuts

Ok - so before i get to my Picasso self portrait i will post some Revit tuts...Its not all of them just a bit for now. Thanks to Sifiso for all the help ;)

EEEEWWW

ok - i am totally disturbed. I havn't looked at my blog in a while until now andd OMG! It is revolting TOO MANY COLOURS - eeewww...... and way to many pictures of myself.... and more to come coz i finished my Picasso (finally) and just need to decide on the right images to use and i will post it...

Sunday, March 26, 2006

Ok - so these are just some details and different angles of the work so far. I am being quite meticulous about defining areas and moving them around (at least this is my excuse for not being finished yet). I am having a bit of trouble with areas that won't define and it is really irritating me and thats why a whole chunk of the centre is not defined or worked on. But it will be finished one day, i hope.

A Little Progress

Just a few pics of what i have done so far...
